FAQs
What is a 145P tag?
A 145P tag is a cable/wire identification marker used in telecom and data center installations. It's roughly 1" wide by 1¾" long, pre-punched with a 1/4" hole, and can be labeled on both sides — used for far-end termination info, panel ID, voice/data line identification, and general wire and cable marking. The name comes from the original industry-standard tag size used for decades in telecom work.
94V0 vs other flame ratings — what's the difference?
94V0 is a UL flammability rating meaning the material self-extinguishes quickly and won't drip flaming particles when exposed to a flame source — the strictest of the common UL94 ratings for this type of application. Our "Burndy Style" (BWG) white tags carry the 94V0 rating, making them suitable for installations with stricter fire-safety requirements. Our standard telecom grey tags are made from durable flame-retardant material but aren't 94V0-certified — for jobs requiring that specific certification, choose the BWG white tags.
Adhesive vs plain fish paper — which do I need?
Adhesive-backed fish paper sticks in place during installation, which speeds up the job significantly — no holding or taping needed, just peel and place. It costs more per roll but saves labor time, especially on jobs where speed matters. Plain (non-adhesive) fish paper is lighter to carry, costs less, and works well for jobs where deadlines aren't tight or where you're cutting custom pieces that don't need to stay fixed in place immediately. If your crew is billing by the hour or racing a deadline, adhesive usually pays for itself. If it's a slower job or you want the lowest material cost, plain works fine.
What sizes does fish paper come in?
We stock rolls in 3", 5", and 6" widths, in lengths from 50ft up to 225ft, in both adhesive and plain (non-adhesive) versions, and in dark or telecom grey color. Narrower rolls (3") work well for tight corners and small jobs; wider rolls (5"-6") cover more ground faster on larger installations.
Do you offer bulk or custom quantities?
Yes — our tags and fish paper are available in bulk case quantities for large jobs, and in smaller bundles (25-count bags, single rolls) through our Kitting Solutions collection for contractors who need exact amounts rather than a full case. Custom quantities are available on request for larger contractor or distributor orders — reach out through our Contact page.
